About Us

Raven Ridge Homestead sits on a ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains, a small working farm shaped by the land and the seasons. What we offer grows directly from how we live, cook, and work each day, shared through small gatherings centered on food, conversation, and practical skills.

Our community forms through shared work and time at the table rather than spectacle or scale.

This is both our home and our farm. Visits are intentional. Offerings are seasonal. Most experiences are adult-focused by design.

We grow food.

We preserve what is ready.

We cook what makes sense for the season.

We teach what we practice.

Nothing here is built for volume. Everything here is built for substance.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: to learn by doing and to share what we practice.

We believe skills are built through experience in the kitchen, on the land, and at the table, and strengthened when shared with family, neighbors, and community.

We gather in small groups so that learning remains personal, practical, and rooted in place.

Sustainability and Values

Sustainability at Raven Ridge Homestead shows up in everyday decisions. We source locally when possible, cook with the seasons, and package our food with care and restraint. On the land, we build systems meant to last.

Our values guide how we work. We prioritize integrity in what we offer, hands-on education, and quality over scale. Community grows naturally from steady presence and shared knowledge.

What We Offer

Our work shifts with the season, but it centers on three areas:

• Small, intentional gatherings centered on food and conversation

• A rotating menu of homestead meals available on select dates

• Hands-on workshops drawn directly from the skills we use every day, including cooking, preserving, harvesting, dehydrating, fermenting, and canning

Each offering reflects what is happening on the land in real time.

Our Story

Feeding our family scratch-made meals has always been a priority. Over time, cooking with in-season ingredients led us to pay closer attention to where our food comes from and how it is grown.

We began building simple systems that support one another. We capture rainwater, compost our waste, feed garden scraps to the chickens, return their manure to the soil, plant year-round, and save seeds for the next season. As those pieces came together, the land began working more efficiently and with less waste.

What we share at Raven Ridge Homestead grows from this daily practice. It shapes how we live, how we cook, and how we welcome others to gather on the ridge.

The People Behind Raven Ridge

Hi, I’m Lynn. I lead the day-to-day work at Raven Ridge Homestead. Cooking is where I’m most at home. When I’m not in the kitchen, I’m usually in the garden, tending what is growing and paying attention to the season.

My husband, Kurt, is the builder and problem-solver behind much of what keeps the homestead functioning. His steady approach supports the land and the gatherings we host here.

Raven Ridge Homestead was never intended to be open access. Keeping visits intentional allows us to work safely, stay focused, and care properly for the land and animals.

When guests are invited for classes or experiences, they have been planned for. They are our priority. We offer full attention, a calm environment, and the space to learn and connect without distraction.
